CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS´ TEXT
On Friday, the 12 th of October, 2012 we
celebrate the National Day of Spain. It commemorates when Christopher Columbus
discovered America in 1492. He was born in Genoa, a city of Italy, the thirty -
first of October, 1451. He wanted to go to India, in the east, like Marco Polo
to obtain spices.
On August, 3,
1492 he set sail from Palos de la Frontera, in Huelva, with a hundred men and
with three ships called the Niña, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. He stopped in
the Canary Islands. On September, 6, 1492 he left the Canary Islands.
He arrived in America the12th of October, 1492, but he thought it was India.

Chistopher Columbus was born in Genoa on October 31, 1451. Influenced by the books of Marco Polo. Christopher Columbus sighted land and finally he landed on an island in the new world of the Americas. Columbus traveled to other close islands, and finally he went back to Spain.
Columbus travel has continued to inspire other explorers.
